Milestone Systems and Comitel have created a video surveillance system for Senzani Brevetti for the efficiency of product packaging operations in the food & beverage, chemical products, agriculture, but also for home and personal care sectors
Active both on the Italian and foreign market in the production and marketing of machinery and technologies for automatic, primary and secondary packaging, Senzani Brevetti has recently installed a video surveillance system inside a packaging plant, in order to monitor in the correct functioning of the system in a constant and continuous manner. The system, based on Milestone’s XProtect platform, was designed by Comitel, a Cesena-based system integrator active for over thirty years in the telecommunications, IT, networking and video surveillance market.
Inside the machine – an entire packaging line protected by a glass structure on the perimeter of about 12 x 3 meters and accessible from the outside via mobile guards – were integrated eight IP cameras with very high frame rates and a server in the which images are recorded and stored for seven days, in compliance with the privacy legislation.
The cameras, able to offer high quality footage even in the presence of a very fast rotation of the machine, have been integrated into the video management software by Milestone Systems. The main innovation of the system consists in the creation, for each of the eight cameras, of a “timeline” on which any malfunctions of the machinery are recorded in real time, which can be viewed, together with the cameras, on a monitor outside the machinery.
If in the past a production line needed more operators who from outside monitored its correct functioning, now any malfunction can be viewed in real time on the external monitor, with indication of the exact point and instant in which the failure occurred, with considerable economic and time savings.
The potential of the Milestone software allowed, finally, to create a system that correlates the recording activity of the cameras with the control of physical access to the machinery: when the access door is opened, the cameras immediately suspend both the live footage that the recordings on the server, and then resume automatically when the machine is restarted.
