The P30S, P80S and Matrix6 product family presented by Vivaldi in 2022 represents an evolution of the concept of audio distribution in multiple environments. The CTO of the company, Samir Gardin told us about it.
Vivaldi has always been synonymous with quality audio. The products of the Italian company are a flagship of Made in Italy, and are characterized by continuous aesthetic and technological research, so that they satisfy an ever-increasing amount of user needs. The P30S, P80S and Matrix6 ranges, launched last Spring, and proposed as an evolutionary step in the concept of audio distribution in different environments, also fit into this logic. Be careful though, because Samir Gardin, CTO of Vivaldi, is quick to specify that “for Vivaldi, these products represent a starting point, a cornerstone for the development of future products that we are already working on. In fact” – continues Samir – “we have many other projects on the table to develop.”
The design of this new family of products was not easy, as confirmed by Samir Gardin: “These products were conceived and created entirely by our research and development group, including the application. Unfortunately, the design period coincided with the period of the global semiconductor crisis and the project underwent significant delays, leading to the rather drastic decision to redesign 80% of the devices in order to be able to present them on the market in time reasonable.”
P30S and P80S are amplified digital mixers with four mono channels plus one stereo, with integrated webpage control and music player. The P30 model develops a power of 30Wrms@8 Ω and 50Wrms@4 Ω for each channel, while the P80S model reaches a power of 80Wrms@8 Ω and 140Wrms@4 Ω. Both mixers are equipped with three outputs: one stereo amplified, one stereo pre-amplified and one LowPass pre-amplified double mono for a possible subwoofer. The built-in seven-band equalizer is adjustable from +10dB to -10dB, while the player has the ability to play content via Spotify Connect, Airplay, Webradio and supports file formats wma, mp2, mp3, ogg, flac, alac, wav, aiff, aac.
Matrix6, on the other hand, is a digital matrix with six balanced inputs and six balanced outputs with independent buffer. All inputs have the ability to enable phantom power, adjust input gain, and activate a HighPass filter. All outputs have a three-band equalizer, volume control and mute function.
“The goal we pursued in development” – concludes Samir Gardin – “is simplicity: therefore we tried to reduce wiring to a minimum and create a simple and intuitive application, capable of controlling all the devices in the Keysol family. The integration with streaming platforms for the use of the so-called ‘liquid music’, the possibility of listening to web radios from all over the world and the opportunity to connect traditional analogue sources make these devices complete audio amplification systems, easily controllable from tablets, smartphones and PCs. Furthermore, the versatility of these products makes them suitable for the most varied applications: from residential to conference rooms, passing through public places. The possibility of integration with home automation supervisors via appropriate APIs will also soon be available. Finally, one last relevant aspect is the continuous updates that improve the user experience and add features.”
