Distributed in Italy by Exhibo, the Sennheiser brand does not require any particular presentations: well-known everywhere for the quality of the audio it offers, it is now also at the forefront in regards to the tools for collaboration and communication in times of social distancing.
The health crisis caused by Covid-19, in fact, has forced many companies to decline work remotely, with videoconferencing meetings and many workers in the configuration of smart working. Even the school world had to adapt quickly, with a sharp surge in the use of platforms such as Zoom.
TeamConnect in perfect integration
These considerations prompted Sennheiser to implement the TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone, already certified for use with Microsoft Teams Rooms, so that it is now fully compatible with Zoom video conferencing software.
In addition, a new QSC plug-in for the Q-SYS platform allows the microphone to have ‘drag-and-drop’ integrated into the AVC Q-SYS ecosystem, saving time and effort for integrators and programmers. Thanks to this plug-in, in fact, it is possible to control different parameters of the Q-SYS platform through the microphone itself: for example, the tracking of Q-SYS cameras with the position of the sound source. TCC2 is also received as a native on the Q-SYS platform thanks to its compatibility with the AES67 audio standard.
TCC2: identity card
The Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 microphone uses an adaptive system (dynamic beamforming) to automatically detect the speaker, regardless of where he is in the room. In this way, the microphone allows a considerable freedom of movement and a more flexible use of the environments, without obviously renouncing the Sennheiser audio quality. All this, with a view to guaranteeing respect for social distancing. With its 28 condenser capsules intelligently connected via DSP matrix, TeamConnect Ceiling 2 covers the entire room or classroom and the signal processing takes place inside the microphone housing itself.
Depending on the signal level, the microphone is able to identify the speaker and to ‘concentrate’ on the sound source, attenuating the other areas and thus reducing noise and interference. It is also possible to combine different ceiling microphones to obtain greater coverage, which – together with the very delicate design, able to fit into any environment – makes TCC 2 suitable for rooms of all sizes, and in particular for those with a surface included between 50 and 60 square meters (with 14-16 participants.) Obviously, fewer participants do not negatively affect the functionality of the microphone.
Educational and corporate applications
In addition to the obvious business applications, Sennheiser TeamConnect Ceiling 2 is also increasingly used in school environments, to facilitate distance learning, especially in the case of seminars that require the presence of multiple speakers. The audio output is entrusted to a three-pin Phoenix connector for analogue connection (external audio processor, video conferencing codec) and two Dante ports (2 x RJ45) for digital scenarios. The power supply is PoE (Power-over-Ethernet) type. The free Sennheiser Control Cockpit software, which also supports the G3 and G4 wireless microphone series, as well as the SpeechLine Digital Wireless series and the Digital 6000 system, allows you to better structure your systems. Alternatively, TeamConnect Ceiling 2 can also be used with a media control system.
The installation of the microphone, which measures 590 x 590 x 43 mm, is facilitated by the wide range of mounting accessories. Special paints in RAL colours are also available and, as the hygienic side – especially today – is fundamental, it should be emphasised that TeamConnect Ceiling 2 can be used in touchless mode, which further helps to maintain social distancing practices.
