Developed by MicroConnect, a brand distributed by EET Group, in collaboration with the Danish Armed Forces, the new Safe Charge line of charging cables and adapters ensures maximum security of personal data under all circumstances
Being able to take advantage of convenient recharges for one’s electronic equipment (smartphones, tablets, etc…) is definitely a plus, but a thought must also be given to security: when we connect, are we sure that our data contained in the equipment is not easily accessible?
That’s where Safe Charge, the line specializing in the area of charging cables and adapters, comes in. Indeed, the cables and adapters in this series block any kind of data from the equipment to which they are connected, thus protecting the owner’s personal information in the safest way.
A barrier against “juice jacking”
One of the biggest concerns when it comes to charging electronic equipment on the go is so-called “juice jacking,” a locution used to describe a very specific type of cyber attack, which consists of a hacker installing malware in charging stations for the purpose of stealing personal information from devices innocently connected for charging purposes only. In fact, as is well known, the USB port of any device transfers not only power, but also data. Normally, when connecting a device via USB, it is configured as an external storage device that allows access to copy any files in both directions, to and from the device.
A manipulated USB port can enable data transfer mode on the connected device without there being a chance to notice. “Juice jacking” is no small threat, as it can occur anywhere, anytime, at public charging stations such as those found in airports, bars and hotels.
The new MicroConnect Safe Charge charging cables completely secure the user from this risk, ensuring protected recharging under any circumstances. This is why they can also become a useful service that hotels, restaurants and public places in general make available, a “plus” that will help build customer loyalty by elevating the quality of the relationship with them. They can also be an effective complement in meeting rooms, especially when having visiting partners or clients, who can safely recharge their devices. So system integrators or resellers who have these types of profiles among their customers will be able to offer a new product dedicated to customer care, which will be perceived as an additional service.
Safe Charge: certified build quality
All MicroConnect Safe Charge cable and connector models are MFI certified with C94+C189 connectors made of 99.9% oxygen-free copper. The jacket is nylon braided, the housing aluminum, with double shielding.
There are four models available: USB-A to Lightning; USB-A to USB-C; USB-C to USB-C; USB-C to Lightning. All cables are 1.5-meter Data Blockers, and a 25-year warranty is attached to all of them, a testament to their extreme build quality. Designed without data pins, the cables provide physical data blocking and can be used exclusively for charging equipment, at 5V, 3A (15W) for USB-A models or 20V, 3A (60W) for USB-C models.
The packaging is stylish and environmentally friendly, so Safe Charge products will also be able to be effectively displayed to the public in retail outlets.
