A busy start to the year for the AVIXA Women’s Council: alongside the activities and meetings experienced at ISE 2024, the Italian group presented the first season of interviews with Italian AV professionals. Let’s find out what it’s all about!
The idea of interviewing female AV professionals in Italy was born from an interesting discussion within the Italian group of the AVIXA Women’s Council. Many of the participants, in fact, shared the feeling of feeling ‘alone’ in this distinctly male-dominated world.
“Being part of the group already represented an important support,” explains Valeria Rapa, Program Coordinator, Europe at Avixa. “By meeting other women, even if specialised in different fields, the participants had further opportunities to discuss difficulties and satisfactions of working in AV. We often told ourselves that women working in AV do exist, they are just hard to find because they are outnumbered. That’s how we came up with the idea of interviewing some female professionals, precisely to give more visibility to the person, her path and what she can offer in this field”.
The first season of interviews
First step, then, to show the world that there are women specialists and professionals in the STEM/AV field. And that they are also very competent and with very interesting professional and life stories. In the interviews, participants told their stories both from an educational and professional point of view and from the point of view of being a woman in this field.
For this first season, the protagonists of the AVIXA Women’s Council project are:
- Annalisa Orlando, Marketing and Sales Manager of Euroscreen;
- Elena Bertolini, Art Director; Giorgia Barbana, System and Quality Manager; and Giulia Totis, Marketing and Communication, of 4DODO;
- Nadia Romanello, Agent and Technical Sales Consultant for AV pro products and systems;
- Sara Taigher, Animation Director & Motion Graphics Expert at So What Pictures and Robotina.
