We had a fruitful chat with Bastien Cahan, Regional Marketing Manager of Sony Professional Solutions Europe for the Southern Area: many topics were touched, from the success of ISE 2022 to the wait for the next edition, from the large display market to that of video projectors, passing for the latest news presented in Barcelona, and on which Sony is focusing a lot.
We see Sony is focusing on education & corporate applications, and creativity. For what we see Sony is focussing on display rather than video projection for those applications, and video-projection is dedicated to the residential applications. Is this right? can you comment those choices?
CB: Video projection will always occupy a prominent place for Sony. For our Education and Corporate customers, we offer a wide range of display products suited to a whole host of applications and environments. It depends on the customer’s needs, space and budget, and we’re really taking this into consideration with the development of our new products. With the arrival of new technologies such as the ones we showcased at ISE – our BRAVIA screens, C-LED and projectors – we’re making sure these are more and more affordable for our customers. Our professional laser projectors including the latest additions, VPL-FHZ80 and VPL-FHZ85, combine brightness with efficiency, installation flexibility and advanced operational capabilities. They boast a long-lasting light source (up to 20,000 hours) and are perfect for any business environment from office and classrooms to museums and showrooms. Our professional range of projectors are not suitable for residential use, hence why we have a range of world-class Home Cinema projectors dedicated to providing immersive viewing experiences in the home. We also offer an extensive range of BRAVIA 4K Professional Displays that offer superb picture quality and enhanced usability for businesses including corporations, hotels, retail stores and large venues.
TEOS solutions and BRAVIA can be seen as complementary for a complete solution? in what markets?
CB: BRAVIA and TEOS work in complete harmony together. Many of our customers are looking to digitise their workplaces, increase efficiency amongst their employees and provide clear digital signage for staff and visitors. We have seen our TEOS and BRAVIA solution used in corporate offices, higher education institutions and retail stores, but it’s certainly not limited to these environments.
Can you tell us more about Sony midterms strategies and the related actions in terms of mkt actions, local offices missions etc?
CB: We have had a busy start to the new year with our biggest tradeshow, ISE, taking place. Besides ISE we have a whole host of local events coming up in Italy for the residential and b2b markets. Now we are looking forward to continuing to grow our range of products and solutions for the professional market. We have the ambitious aim of becoming the benchmark for image and sound in the professional sector, and we are expanding our team in Italy to this end. And of course, the next ISE coming up in February 2023!
What are the trends, in your opinion, regarding visual industry in this moment?
CB: The creation of content is changing all the time, with retail businesses having to constantly update their image to stay relevant, corporate businesses keeping staff informed of the latest updates as examples. Now more than ever the need for outstanding, eye catching content is important to welcome customers back into stores or our employees back into the offices. We strive to make sure our customers feel supported through their digital changes and transformations by providing the very best displays and projectors that can bring their visions to life.
How was ISE for Sony, and for what goals was important?
CB: We had a very successful ISE, and as the first one in over two years it was fantastic to be back and to reconnect with customers old and new. The show was really exciting, and we were delighted to showcase our latest and greatest products and solutions again, especially as we have added quite a few new additions over the past two years. We are already looking forward to ISE 2023 in 8 months’ time!
