Sony and Movie People have intensified their collaboration to create a cutting-edge Virtual Production system based on Crystal LED VERONA
To best address the transformation process of the Media sector, linked to the encounter between physical and virtual audiovisual production scenarios, Sony and Movie People have established a partnership aimed at integrating cutting-edge technologies with the most advanced skills in the sector. The Virtual Production project in the Movie People studios, in Viale Berbera in Milan, is designed to create a center of excellence for the creation of cinematographic, advertising and television productions, and is based on Sony’s Crystal-LED VERONA, made up of 280 Display Cabinet with a pixel pitch of 1.56 mm, which creates an operating space of approximately 70 m2. The LED-Wall will be integrated by the ceiling panel with a mobile structure, with a pixel pitch of 2.31 mm.
The equipment is then completed by two 3×2 m mobile LED-Panels with a pixel pitch of 1.56 mm for Tabletop, Packshots, Animation and Window back picture applications.
Sony has also made exclusive tools available such as the Virtual Production Tool set and Color Calibrator, which are fundamental for fine-tuning the cameras in the pre-production phase.
But why did Movie People choose the Sony VERONA model? First of all, for the lower energy consumption – approximately 30% less than panels with a similar pitch on the market, which allows a reduction in the total operating cost over time. Also important is the reduced heat emission, which does not require a dedicated air conditioning system.
But obviously the main reason remains the image quality, guaranteed by the 1,500 cd/m2 that the panels offer, with a colorimetric space that covers more than 97% of DCI-P3, with deep blacks, anti-reflection technology and high refresh rate.
Finally, the flexibility and simplicity of installation combined with the robustness of the product, which requires simplified and quick maintenance, also played an important role: if necessary, the rapid replacement of the modules reduces downtime to a minimum.
