Samsung Electronics presented the new Odyssey OLED, Smart Monitor and ViewFinity 2024 in a single, spectacular launch: let’s see what it’s all about!
Samsung launches are always pretty spectacular! In a single launch, several new products were introduced to the market, all interesting. Let’s start with the new generation Odyssey OLED which offers proprietary technology that prevents burn-in for a superior OLED experience enriched by new AI features. Odyssey OLED G8 is Samsung’s first 32” flat OLED monitor with 4K UHD resolution (3840 x 2160) and 16:9 aspect ratio, which also offers a 240 Hz refresh rate and gray-to-gray (GtG) response time of 0.03 ms, for smooth and responsive gameplay.
Odyssey OLED G6 is a 27” monitor with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), which in turn supports the 16:9 format. The 360 Hz refresh rate and 0.03ms GtG response time allow gamers maximum speed while gaming. The Odyssey OLED G8 is also Samsung’s first AI-powered gaming monitor. The NQ8 AI Gen3 processor, the same one Samsung uses for its 2024 8K TV, allows you to increase the resolution of content up to near 4K when using Samsung Gaming Hub and the monitor’s native Smart TV apps.
Both new OLED models are finally equipped with Samsung OLED Safeguard+, a new proprietary burn-in protection technology based on the application of a pulsed heat pipe to the monitor.
The Smart Monitor range also further enhances entertainment features and increases AI potential. New for 2024 include the M8 (model M80D), M7 (model M70D), and M5 (model M50D). The updated M8 32” 4K UHD Smart Monitor introduces new AI-enhanced features thanks to the NQM AI processor. AI upscaling allows low-resolution content to be brought up to near 4K, and the Active Voice Amplifier Pro uses AI to analyze background noise in the environment and optimize dialogue present in user content. 360 Audio Mode is also available on the M8 model, which pairs with Galaxy Buds to create an immersive sound environment, while the integrated SlimFit Camera allows you to easily make video calls through mobile applications with Samsung Dex. Also new to the entire series is the Workout Tracker, which pairs with the Galaxy Watch to allow you to view real-time health data on the screen, even while streaming content. This makes it easier to track training goals and can help make physical activity more enjoyable.
Finally, here is the ViewFinity Series, designed for creatives and professionals and designed in a sustainable way, which includes the ViewFinity S8 (models S80UD and S80D), ViewFinity S7 (model S70D) and ViewFinity S6 (models S60UD and S60D) monitors. Made with a minimum percentage of recycled plastic and without the use of chemical sprays, the new ViewFinity models also offer Easy Setup Stand, a mounting system that does not require the use of tools or screws, facilitating and speeding up installation and using the display. Each ViewFinity 2024 monitor supports HDR10 and 1 billion color display, while also integrating TÜV-Rheinland-certified Intelligent Eye Care features to relieve eye strain during extended working periods.
The ViewFinity S8 and S7 offer 27” and 32” screens, each with 4K UHD (3840 x 2160) resolution, 60Hz refresh rate and 350 nits brightness. The monitors also come with a USB hub for easy connectivity and a height-adjustable stand.
The ViewFinity S6 model is available in three sizes, 24”, 27” and 32”, each with QHD resolution (2560 x 1440), 100Hz refresh rate and 350 nits brightness.
