Andrea Bocelli Foundation: a new (musical) heart for camerino includes donated sound equipment from Shure.
The new Camerino Music Academy, which was constructed in less than 150 days thanks to the funds and oversight of the Andrea Bocelli Foundation (ABF), is now open to all the talented students in the Camerino, Italy area. ABF’s founder, the famous tenor Andrea Bocelli, was present at the inauguration ceremony.
The Camerino Music Academy project, with beneficiaries that include more than 160 music students, was built with modern and anti-seismic construction techniques and will host thematic classrooms, common areas, and an auditorium. The new facility will host the lessons of enrolled students and serve as a separate office, playing an even more significant role for the territory. World renowned architect Renzo Piano, the Municipality of Camerino, the Associations of the territory, the University, the music high schools, and the Conservatory of Fermo were also involved in the project.
Shure Incorporated, a leading global audio manufacturer, provided microphones and headphones to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation. This equipment assisted in the Foundation’s effort to build the new Academy, destroyed by a seismic earthquake that struck central Italy in 2016. The Andrea Bocelli Foundation, like other nonprofits, has experienced a significant reduction in fundraising due to COVID-19. Additional income for the project was also impacted as the result of a break in live performance concerts by Mr. Bocelli. The Camerino project and its need for donated audio equipment was brought to the attention of Shure by Andrea Taglia, sound engineer for Andrea Bocelli. “Shure has worked with Mr. Bocelli and Mr. Taglia for years, providing invaluable feedback to our product development process,” said John Born, Senior Product Manager at Shure. “Their recognition in the industry and ability to bring a world-class audio experience to the largest performance venues are second to none. While we continue to be their first choice on tour, we are especially honored that Shure equipment was selected by their installation team on such an ambitious and complex project.”
Shure provided an assortment of audio gear including KSM studio recording microphones, Microflex® gooseneck
mics, SLX-D digital wireless microphone systems, and professional studio-quality SRH headphones. Together, these products will deliver crystal-clear audio quality the way it was meant to be heard. “We are pleased to lend our support to the Andrea Bocelli Foundation for this important and worthy project,” added Christine Schyvinck, President and CEO at Shure. “The Camerino Music Academy aligns with the objectives of Shure’s Corporate Social Responsibility program, supporting the development of future generations of musical artists, particularly under challenging conditions. It is a privilege for Shure to be associated with Mr. Bocelli and Ms. Berti and their exceptional organization.
“We are grateful that a suitable home of music (which will also become a campus for Fermo Conservatory) will be officially handed over to the community of this university town, to be an educational and artistic hub that is worthy of the noble tradition that has distinguished the cultural life of Camerino for centuries,” said Laura Biancalani, ABF President.
The new Camerino Music Academy was built also thanks to the donations raised during the 2019 “With You, For a New Beginning” SMS solidarity campaign and was able to count on a series of precious partners: The Fondazione De Agostini, Poligrafici Editoriale, the Celebrity Fight Night Foundation, the Associazione Adesso Musica, the PSC Group, Subissati, The Senate of the Republic, Fabbrini Pianoforti, Order Sons and Daughters of Italy in America, the Mike Ferry Organization, the Stewart Rahr Foundation, Stefano Ricci SpA, and the Columbus Citizens Foundation, together with Luxy, the Blackfin, Fondazione Varaldo di Pietro, Rotary Club Montecarlo-Piana di Lucca, Club Zeta3mendi, Confartigianato Cremona – Gruppo Liutai E Scuola Internazionale di Liuteria, Italy For Christ, SIAE, Shure, Lenovo, Amitie Sans Frontieres Firenze, Ermenegildo Gnutti, Targetti, Gruppo Giardini, and the Lions Club Busseto.
