A 2024 got off to a great start for Paso, which took advantage of the international stage in Barcelona to present System One, its first audio over IP system supporting the industry’s main digital communication protocols.
“This is the highlight of this edition, and of our proposal for the integration of audio systems starting in the summer,” began Roberto Megazzini, technical sales manager at Paso. “With System One we interface more effectively with AV Pro, but also with everything that represents our evac world, while keeping an eye on our core business. In fact, this new controller allows us to digitally interconnect the entire Paso offering, including the smaller machines. In fact, we receive many requests for the integration of compact technologies within larger supervision systems. Today we can finally guarantee a strong and versatile response to the market”.
So, what can be done with the new audio over IP system? First and foremost, expand to larger applications and where large distances are involved, such as airports, subways and other public spaces. In fact, a network is configured in which everything is completely digital and even the transmission of audio takes place digitally: the proprietary streaming protocol is however based on the AES67 standard, as is the data management, according to the OCA standard, thus open to interface with Dante.
Why focus on digital, between evac and fire
“The experience we have gained in recent years, culminating in the launch of this new system, allows us to also look at the fire sector,” adds Antonio Faccioni, Managing Director at Paso. “The open communication and easy programming are appreciated, in fact, even by professionals not historically connected to the world of evac audio. To them we can offer advanced solutions, also thanks to the distribution agreement on the Italian territory for Honeywell fire systems. The prospect is therefore to diversify and expand our range of action worldwide”.
The reasons are quickly stated: on the one hand, to follow the natural evolution of the audio world, from public address to security in general. On the other hand, as Paso audio systems are ‘commanded’ by fire, it goes without saying to focus on a new integrated approach to EN54, adding components and completing the offer as much as possible. “Customers and system integrators themselves are asking that: we want to create a truly efficient, networked and potentially limitless puzzle. Besides Italy, we work a lot with Northern Europe and the Middle East, from Dubai to other strategic countries. From here, in particular, we get a lot of requests, there is a lot to be built at infrastructural and public level. System One comes at the ideal time to support this growth”, Faccioni concludes.
