A few days ago we had the opportunity to pay a visit to Samsung and meet with Daniele Patisso, Head of Marketing Visual Display&Storage. The company, also thanks to the great opportunity for schools constituted by the PNRR (Piano Nazionale Ripresa e Resilienza), which has given an extra gear to an area where Samsung has already been in the forefront for some time, is now very focused on Education applications, both in terms of the solutions proposed and specific training. Here is an insight into Samsung’s ‘philosophy’ for the sector from Daniele’s words
C – In your opinion, how far do schools and universities keep up with innovation?
DP – Schools are in a phase of change, both in terms of technology adoption and teacher training, which Samsung has been working on in recent years. It can happen that teachers are afraid of technology, instead of exploiting its full potential, and above all, they are not adequately supported in ‘converting’ their teaching methods to the use of technology: today, in fact, thanks to interactivity and multimedia, it is possible to create lessons with a profound added value.
C: What are the main obstacles to the virtuous use of multimedia in the Edu sector?
DP: In addition to the training deficiencies already mentioned, we observe that purchasing decisions are made in haste and not necessarily by assessing specific needs. In addition, the importance of technical support from specialised channel partners, who can follow schools from installation to day-to-day and ongoing support, is rarely given due consideration.
C: How are you present in the Edu sector?
DP – Samsung operates nationwide through specialised channel partners and has promoted an important training activity, the “Technology and Digital Board to innovate teaching” course, which has involved almost seven thousand teachers to date. The course, which lasted 25 hours, was held on MIUR’s S.O.F.I.A. platform and focused on interactive learning, whole-class collaboration and dynamic experiences, all of which are the basis of the tools and devices that Samsung designs to support teachers and students and help renew teaching.
On this occasion, we reviewed Samsung’s proposal for the education sector: the company offers for school use a dedicated range of Flip interactive displays from 55″ to 85″, capable of presenting any content source, useful for simplifying group activities and sharing content from devices or personal folders.
The top model is in particular the WAC Series Android Interactive Display, available in 65″ or 75″ versions, featuring Android 11 operating system, front USB-C 3-in-1 and HDMI ports as well as a rich set of Education applications designed to build lively, engaging and interactive lessons. Features of the WAC series also include simultaneous multi-window, or multi-screen display, so teachers can view and read multiple windows at the same time, and wireless sharing from multiple devices, up to nine simultaneously. The display also supports multi-touch functions: up to 40 users simultaneously can collaborate and learn together.
