Among the topics planned for AV Playground@Bari, which will take place on 20th October, there will also be a focus on acoustic wellbeing, to explain the relationship between acoustics, psychoacoustics… and loyalty at our favourite restaurant!
In less than 10 days we will be in Bari for the second event of AV Playground, the Connessioni project designed to create links between the integrated technology industry and that of its professional users, in the various possible applications.
In Bari, the mirror of a region that has made hospitality one of its primary economic realities, we will talk precisely about the contribution of technologies to the renewal of this sector. And among these, we will be proposing a focus on audio: but we will not be talking about it in an active sense, i.e. about issues relating to the design of sound diffusion systems, rather about acoustic treatments and well-being, which is closely linked to people’s psychophysical well-being.
“We all experience this aspect when we go to a club or restaurant,’ said Francesco di Pinto, recognised acoustics technician and one of the speakers at AV Playground@Bari on 20th October. ‘When we sit at the table with friends or colleagues, but the place is so noisy that we are unable to converse with our neighbour, and the noise and reverberations are so annoying that our only desire is to get up and leave,we will almost certainly avoid returning to that place. Its manager will lose then a customer, or most likely a group of customers.
How many times have we dined in an location where a curtain of the right thickness, or a simple sound-absorbing ceiling, with a small expense, could give the manager his customer back, and his turnover? In my talk on 20 October I will discuss the mechanisms of sound perception, how we hear, and the relationship between a correct sound environment and well-being, in everyday experience as well as in current technical guidelines. I hope that hotel planners and managers, designers as well as architects working in this field will benefit from this information, in order to increasingly improve the experience that customers have in a public place, as well as in the conference or co-working spaces that we increasingly find in the hotel offer”.
