Just yesterday, a new meeting took place between UPI (Union of Italian Provinces) and the Agenzia del Demanio regarding the continuation of their collaboration on the design and assistance for school buildings, although the details have not yet been published. This project, started in 2023, aims to enhance the value of school properties in the region and provides an opportunity for many freelancers to contribute to the initiative.
Following the pilot project in 2023, in which the Agenzia del Demanio offered its designers free of charge for schools in the South (Campania, Basilicata, Puglia, and Calabria) to provide engineering and architectural services and technical assistance for public school buildings under provincial jurisdiction, the opportunity has been extended to the Central and Northern regions in 2024.
An investment of 81 million euros will fund projects for 112 properties currently on the list, based on requests received by last May’s deadline, and according to the agreement between the Union of Italian Provinces (UPI), renewed in mid-June through a Convention that regulates the programming for the 2024/26 triennium of the Structure’s activities in favor of the Provinces.
The Structure’s activity will be reviewed annually and is part of the broader action undertaken by the Agenzia del Demanio to create value in the territory, promoting principles of sustainability, innovation, and digitalization. This initiative aims to develop engineering and architectural projects worth approximately 600 million euros, relying on external professionals. The interventions will focus on project quality, energy efficiency of school buildings, and the adoption of Building Information Modeling (BIM) methodologies.
