From 19 to 22 March 2024, Prolight + Sound will be the international meeting point for companies, professionals and young people interested in the events sector. In fact, in Frankfurt, the entire “rainbow” of products related to event technology will be on display: lighting, laser, AV, sound amplification, event services, theater and stage
“With Prolight + Sound, we offer the industry a unique international platform that unites technology, product innovations, networking, education and entertainment under one roof.” Thus Mira Wölfel, director of Prolight + Sound, which will open its doors on March 19 in Frankfurt. Even more focused on the symbiosis between technology and emotion, networking and entertainment, the event will offer new and expanded areas as well as a bilingual educational program, for four days full of trends, conferences and technological innovations.
Of particular importance is the ProAudio offer, which has been greatly expanded, starting with the new Immersive Audio Dome in Hall 11, which presents a high-impact installation, a system made up of numerous loudspeakers and the multi-channel audio rendering processor creates a landscape unique sound inside a 100 m² igloo-shaped dome, for an engaging and immersive experience. Another new feature is the Audio Bar, also in Hall 11, where visitors will be able to test headphone models from well-known brands in special audio stations immersed in a relaxed bar atmosphere.
Furthermore, in the external area in front of the pavilion, four audio stages will be built, while for visitors looking for quieter sounds, the Silent Stage will offer innovative technological solutions based on the sound of “InEar”. Finally, the Performance + Production Hub, in collaboration with the Sample Music Festival, will be expanded to 3000 m², making it the largest area for music production and DJs in Europe, and the ProAudio College will be internationalized and offer specialist knowledge for professionals of audio and interested newcomers, with a bilingual (German and English) conference program on current trends, innovations in home studio production and training modules, and high-calibre keynotes from recognized experts on the international scene.
As regards images, however, a special “hub” is planned, created in collaboration with the BVFK (German Association of Television Directors of Photography), which will offer workshops, round tables and daily conferences on current topics and trends, including artificial intelligence, the “cinematic look” and sustainability in film and television productions.
The LightLab will then offer an area in Hall 12 where experts will provide basic information and demonstrations on the risks that modern stage spotlights can pose and how to use them safely, as well as on the effects of optical radiation on the eye and in particular on the retina.
Finally, there will be a strong focus on the promotion of young talents and on recruitment, thanks to the Future Hub, which presents itself as a point of contact between the professionals of today and those of tomorrow. Furthermore, Future Talents Day will be held on 22 March, a day dedicated to in-depth analysis of the various career scenarios in the events sector for pupils, interns and students.
And, like every year, the theme of sustainability and green events will also be at the center of attention at PL+S, with the “Green Sessions” and the “Green Tours” organized in collaboration with EVVC (European Association of Event Centres), as well as with a large series of keynotes and additional conferences dedicated to how to organize sustainable events.
Finally, the new PLS Community Nights, in exclusive locations in central Frankfurt, will offer an opportunity to make new industry contacts over drinks and music. Participation in all conferences, workshops and product demonstrations as well as PLS Community Nights (subject to registration) is free for trade fair visitors.
