On the occasion of Smart Building Italia, Matrox Video displayed its best skills regarding AV streaming, with the Maevex H.264 and IPMX ConvertIP solutions
The Maevex 6100 Series models, capable of 4K encoding with ultra-short latency, and the ConvertIP (IPMX) products definitely attracted the attention of SBE 2023 visitors.
Maevex 6100 Series 4K encoders deliver 4K@60 signal capture and encoding and high-compression quad 4K AV streams over 1GbE networks at exceptionally low latency, allowing you to stream across LAN, WAN and Internet. Based on the H.264 compression protocol and equipped with six streaming protocols, the Maevex 6100 Series products also offer zero latency quad pass-through, are very quiet in operation, low power consumption, and can be rack mounted.
Great interest during SBE was also found in Matrox ConvertIP encoders/decoders, based on IPMX (Internet Protocol Media Experience). What is it about? In essence, a set of open standards and specifications for AV over IP that respond to the ProAV industry’s need to facilitate the transition to IP infrastructures. The ProAV world, in fact, is full of proprietary AV-over-IP solutions, none of which are based on open standards, which causes limited interoperability, increased costs and difficulties for both system designers and end customers. IPMX essentially offers a single platform on which manufacturers can create standardized, interoperable products, with simplified infrastructure management, scalability and cost savings. IPMX is based on the SMPTE ST 2110 suite of standards and the related AMWA NMOS specifications, to which it adds specific functionality for ProAV workflows.
The IPMX standard is designed to transport and control compressed and uncompressed video and audio over IP, including 4Kp60 signals with 4:4:4 color sampling, -with very low latency, making this standard ready to accommodate resolutions 8K or higher. The flexibility of the standard is also revealed in the possibility of supporting 10G, 25G, 40G and 100G networks, without requiring license costs: the complete set of standards is open and can be downloaded and used for free.
Matrox ConvertIP encoders/decoders are designed specifically for the IPMX standard, offering flexibility, scalability and interoperability, providing multiple connectivity options for converting signals between HDMI, HDBaseT or SDI. Supporting compressed and uncompressed 4K over IP signal transmission, ConvertIP is a great option for a variety of ProAV and Broadcast workflows.
