The International Women’s Day, celebrated with considerable media attention last week, converges with the topics surrounding AI. The pressing need for governance to combat misinformation and bias
On February 27th, the event “The ABC of Artificial Intelligence” was presented at the University of Bicocca in Milan. The central focus was on the imperative of governing Artificial Intelligence to avert adverse outcomes, particularly amidst the misinformation that could marginalize female entrepreneurs or women actively engaged in the professional sphere. Notably, the assembled experts, including various representatives from AIDDA – the Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Business Leaders, delineated the potentials and hazards linked with Artificial Intelligence, encompassing phenomena like “bias,” the cognitive distortion resulting from data that can lead to discriminatory decisions. It is easy to imagine the results produced by an AI trained based on information and data inconsistent with the concept of gender equality, so it is crucial that developers consider the social impacts of their systems to avoid the risk of manipulating public opinion.
Before concluding, on a positive note, we’re pleased to announce that tomorrow, the participants in the Ideas Competition for Architects and Designers, organized by KNX in collaboration with the Ordine degli Architetti and PCC of Florence (and curated by Connessioni/SBI), will be honored. Following an extensive selection process of projects, authored by candidates under the guidance of a KNX Professional, the winners will be formally recognized at the KNX Italia stand (5 M05) during the MCE show in Milan. This initiative aims to foster deeper connections and understanding, originating from practical, hands-on experiences, between professionals in architectural design and the world of automation, and related technologies. A new way to bridging the worlds of technology and architectural design? For those interested, the projects will soon be showcased on our editorial platforms.
