The latest edition of AVIXA’s IOTA – Industry Outlook and Trends Analysis – has been released, offering a five-year forecast of end-user spending on AV products and services
Basically, IOTA is one of the few super partes analysis tools (it is compiled by an external consultant) of the Systems Integration market, dedicated to companies and professionals – manufacturers, distributors, but also system integrators and consultants – to help them in defining their strategies, or in orienting their choices in terms of products, solutions or services. The study is structured with a general overview and related in-depth analysis on a territorial level, it is then possible to filter the data according to the desired segments, and finally there are explanations on the forecasts.
A few highlights, in brief
The world’s economies have overcome the pandemic but are still feeling the impact of supply and demand imbalances: IOTA can be useful to focus on the ‘engine’ of future growth, now that companies have largely returned to in presence work, but many have settled on a hybrid model. Here are some insights:
– In 2023, growth is slowing down, the surge in demand due to the pandemic recovery is coming to an end, with a drop of about half compared to 2022. The possible recession also contributes to the slowdown, as corporate customers tend to keep some liquidity in anticipation of possible downturns.
– Supply chain problems persist, although not always in the expected manner. The oversupply in some key categories, such as displays, has caused price deflation and thus a dampening effect on revenue growth, shifting interest to the volume side. This phenomenon is counterbalanced by price increases in areas of low supply, such as control and audio, resulting in higher revenues.
– Services and software are bringing more and more revenue into the pro AV arena, projects are starting up again and, in some cases, even replacing hardware spending. Artificial intelligence promises to fuel this trend in the future, although prospects remain mixed and manufacturers are cautious about growth potential.
