Who said that interactive monitors and video projection (also interactive) are competing technologies? Certainly not Carla Conca of Epson who, met in May at Didacta 2022, the trade fair specialized in technologies for the Educational world, outlined a panorama… of collaboration rather than competition!
That there is not a single technology suitable for the school world is a widely established fact. The interactive display has gained a little advantage, it’s undeniable, compared to the “classic” video projection, albeit enhanced by interactivity – an objectively indispensable feature. But Epson participated in Didacta 2022 with a very clear idea: to relaunch one of its flagships, video projection in Educational applications. And it did so in synergy with two other major brands, Zebra for the software side and Screenline for mechanics and screens. The projectors, of course, are all Epson, and are strictly laser, ultra-short-throw and interactive models.
“We offer simple and small machines, at more than accessible costs” – Carla Conca told us – “to structure systems that easily adapt to any location, characterized by standard software, which can be enriched at will in terms of functionality. In school, in my opinion, the key word is ‘simplicity’. Classrooms are not environments in which it’s necessary to amaze the public, but to teach effectively and easily. The joint venture between Epson, Zebra and Screenline was created precisely for this purpose, to provide a turnkey system, which here in Didacta has made its first official release, which represents an important, cost-competitive alternative to interactive monitors for schools.”
The Epson system, of course, is also interactive, and is characterized by flexibility and simplicity of installation and use: “The system” – continues Carla Conca – “works for high school classrooms, laboratories and the university world. You can have an overall interactive surface or even three independent interactive walls, with maximum versatility and ease of use compared to other solutions.”
In short, a great style relaunch of video projection in the Educational field. Carla Conca, however, does not speak of “a challenge” or “a battle”, on the contrary, she specifies: “Schools should simply be able to choose the technology they want, for the different applications they need. Projectors and monitors are not necessarily antagonists, they can also integrate, or it can be the economic side that decides. The projector with laser technology, moreover, no longer even requires the replacement of the lamp, which represents an additional saving item. We at Epson, in fact, focus a lot on laser models for the Educational world.”
And to conclude, we need to mention the 2022 edition of Didacta, which was held in Florence from 20 to 22 May. How did it go for Epson? “Very well” immediately replies Carla Conca. “We like this fair very much, we are happy to have taken part in it, there was a great turnout, and here too, as in other recent occasions, we noticed the great desire to meet and talk to people, after the forced distancing determined by the pandemic. A positive experience that allowed us to present the latest news and the collaboration with Zebra and Screenline, so we are very satisfied!”
