Like all trade fairs, the ISE never fails to represent an opportunity to discover new realities. Black Nova, despite having existed for almost a decade, had never been adequately introduced to our pages. We filled the gap by speaking, in Barcelona, with Maria Amaya Ferrari, VP Sales & Marketing of the company, who we first asked to give us a brief self-introduction: “We were born eight years ago in the Hospitality sector on the initiative of some Italians abroad” – he began. “So we brought the brand to Italy, and we pride ourselves on being a 100% made in Italy company.”
C – What do you specifically do?
MAF – 70% of our business is represented by hotel automation, with a vast choice of smart switches for home automation. We don’t have controllers, but only command interfaces, classic or touch, developed with attention to design and customization. All our products are solid, functional, intuitive and fully customizable.
C – How does customization work?
MAF – First of all, we are very focused on design, we offer a wide range of interfaces from touch panels to traditional switches, which control any element: curtains, lights, scenarios, accesses, air conditioning, climate, etc. An online configurator allows you to customize the product, offering choice on all aspects, from color to finish. So, once we receive the request, we develop a model, we share it with the customer and if it is approved we go into production, in the desired quantities. In short, the customer gets exactly what he wants.
C – Are you only active in the hotel sector? Do you have distributors or do you only sell directly?
MAF – No, we are working hard to also enter the residential sector, especially in UK, France and USA. As a sales channel, we have several distributors for some countries, but also agents, for example in the United States. For Italy, Adeo Group distributes us, with which we are very satisfied. Since we offer extremely elegant products suitable for many applications, the distributor is also very satisfied with us!
C – How do you interface with the various management protocols? Do you have one of your own?
MAF – I believe we can define ourselves as one of the most integrated companies on the market. We started with KNX and Crestron, but today we can communicate with a number of other systems. Our engineers continually write and update product drivers to ensure maximum integration with all systems.
