Bursting attendance at ISE 2023 by d&b audiotechnik: new products, new certifications EN 54 and the latest ArrayCalc software update are the key topics
Helping us take stock of d&b audiotechnik’s ISE 2023 is Alessandro Bertoni, Sales d&b audiotechnik Italy, who, when interviewed at the company’s booth, begins with product news: “Last year we had quietly introduced the 5D amplifier, which is in production this year and is doing very well, even in new market segments and applications where cost is an important factor. We also place a lot of emphasis on the SL Series, our range of line array systems with full-range cardioid dispersion. We introduced the new, smaller XLS model in the course of last year, which in low frequency has rear emission cancellation, unlike most line arrays on the market. It makes its debut at ISE in the Installation-specific version. Especially in closed rooms, it is a product that interacts less with the acoustics of the space and offers more intelligible performance in rooms with reverberation. Finally, we also have the new XSL Sub, the subwoofer dedicated to the SL Series, with the ad hoc solution to hang it above an array.”
So far, the products, which made a fine showing at the company’s booth, with the possibility of viewing their internal engineering, were very interesting for visitors. However, Alessandro Bertoni continues, “Another important novelty this year is the Soundscape in its lates update, to which we have dedicated demos in a special room.”
We thus enter, thanks to Soundscape, the part of ISE 2023 that d&b audiotechnik has dedicated to the software theme, with Headroom Calc, the latest addition to the Array Calc simulation platform. It is, in the words of Alessandro Bertoni, “an algorithm based on a very extensive campaign of real measurements made on the systems in place, which allows simulating the headroom of a system with a given audio file. Also, thanks to Noise Calc, the latest version that has simplified the computational speed of the platform, it is possible to map the noise impact of a PA system in an open space for live event planning.”
The visit to the d&b stand ended with an interesting examination of the new certifications obtained by some of the brand’s products: “The idea – Bertoni explained – was to develope EN 54-24 and EN 54-16 certified systems, and we have achieved it, certifying some loudspeakers of different families, for example, the A-Series, the Y-Series for installation suitable for very large spaces, as well as the 8S loudspeakers, medium-sized installation loudspeakers. Finally, we also certified several families of amplifiers.”
These certifications ensure that d&b products are made with extreme attention to quality and can be used as part of an emergency communication system in addition to everyday audio needs.
