The impressions of Simone Madoni, consultant and expert on the market and broadcasting, at the end of the Content Production & Distribution Summit at ISE 2024 – Part Two.
Resuming the incipit of the first part of this in-depth study on new broadcasting, we return to the subject of scepticism. An impression that our expert and consultant Simone Madoni, at his first participation in ISE 2024, soon dispelled by visiting the fair and attending the Content Production & Distribution Summit.
“Among the halls I found many proposals typically configured, if you like, in the broadcast world – he explains – demonstrating that, in truth, it is the broadcast world that is moving towards AV with great interest. A special kind of mix of audiovisual content in all forms and declinations, a flow of data that is increasingly present in all spheres of communication: perhaps this aspect sums up a bit our attempt to embed broadcast in the universe of professional AV. This year at ISE we are probably witnessing the first step in an integration that will become even more evident”.
Can we say that the ubiquity of content is sometimes more important than its quality? The two things can travel together. “Since we are Italian, let’s start from our territorial specificity, which is still closely linked to the diffusion of broadband and large-scale connectivity – Madoni continues -. Our country, in fact, suffers from a delay that I would define almost endemic. If the digital terrestrial component is still very strong, and we also suffer geographically from the lack of 100% network coverage, the brake on certain technological developments, including in the transmission of content, is soon explained. However, compared to 3-4 years ago, I think a lot has been done on the infrastructure, and slowly we are getting to full coverage. Of course, we are talking about an extremely complex topic, which would also lead us to touch on aspects such as smart TV and further broadband boundaries”. In the meantime, we remain grounded in the fact that these ecosystems are talking to each other much more than they used to and that the path seems to be on track.
