BenQ will be a technical partner of Distrust Everything, the new immersive work by Lorem, a transmedia project by visual artist and musician Francesco D’Abbraccio. Curated by the cultural association Re: Humanism – www.re-humanism.com – and presented by the independent platform for the professional development of artistic projects and processes Cosmo, Distrust Everything will be staged in Venice, on the island of Giudecca, at the deconsecrated church of Saints Cosmas and Damian, from July 15 to 24, 2022.
Consisting of an immersive chamber located inside the structure’s 17th-century apse, the installation uses Artificial Intelligence systems to translate into audiovisual art a dream world derived from 21 years of dream transcriptions by Mirek Amendant Hardiker, an American artist and former researcher at Stanford.
To best express the extreme realism of the projections and electronic compositions that envelop the viewer, three BenQ LU9800 WUXGA 10000lms projectors with LS1ST3A short-throw lenses were chosen.
Designed for large spaces and 24/7 operation, the LU9800 model is distinguished by its proprietary DLP laser technology, which combines high brightness with impeccable image quality and broader color coverage than classic lamp-based projectors. Added to this is extreme installation flexibility, a 30,000-hour life cycle and virtually nonexistent maintenance requirements.
“This is not the first time that BenQ has chosen to support art in its most advanced forms, whose aptitude for tireless research and experimentation it shares,” says Giacomo Rocchi, Sales and Marketing Director of BenQ Italy. “A work as innovative and challenging as Distrust Everything also allows us to test our technology on extreme and unexplored performative terrain, all the more so in a setting of unmatched charm like the Venetian lagoon.”
