The Women’s Council of Italy was created during lockdown, a group of audio / video professionals who operate locally but look to the international world of the Avixa association. We can now and retrace the stages of its establishment in this first episode of the column that Connessioni will dedicate to the women of the AV world.
The Women’s Council was inaugurated by Avixa in the US to support and encourage the active presence of women in the world of Systems Integration, dividing specific territorial needs into multiple councils. The constitution of the Italian group was announced on the symbolic date of 8 March 2022 (International Women’s Day), to emphasise the message of support for women in the world of work. It includes Giulia Nicosia, Giulia Vogliolo, Giuliana Geronimo, Rosa Della Sala, Valeria Rapa and Chiara Benedettini, project manager of Connessioni. You can find some of their stories on the group’s official page.
What the female group does
AVIXA Women’s Council Italy is open to anyone who wants to take part in sharing their experience and contribute to the inclusive growth of the sector. The goal is to respond to the specific professional and training development needs of the members and the group itself, to expand the Avixa community in Italy and make it more and more consistent with the international standard of the AV and STEM sector. The Italian group made its first public presentation and its first in person meeting at ISE 2022 in Barcelona, last May. What better event and place for it? A great start, together with the restart of the major distributors, producers and technicians of the international market.
The Avixa Xchange platform also launched in May, a unique online community in the AV industry, designed to connect thought leaders, solution providers and innovative manufacturers with those looking for AV solutions. On the platform, skills and experiences are shared, knowledge is acquired and connections are established; a virtual place where news and training are easily available and communities from every segment of the industry interact freely. A perfect place to open a dialogue on gender balance and AV professionals, where in fact even the Italian Council has its own dedicated Room in which to exchange content and opinions. Current channels include conferencing and collaboration, production and streaming, digital signage, learning solutions, live events / performance halls and the AV business. To take advantage of Xchange you need to register, a very quick and simple operation, while the thematic webinars of Avixa are open to access, also in Italian.
Finally, the Linkedin page of the Avixa Women’s Council was also inaugurated in July. Here they convey all the news, information, upcoming training and networking events of the group. Women of the AV continue to follow us!
