As promised, AVIXA released their second survey on trends, attitudes and perceptions of the global Pro AV industry in the time of COVID-19
Given the rapid spread of the pandemic around the world, while governments are moving towards adopting increasingly severe measures, the professional AV sector has also started to suffer from the various lockdowns. This week, in fact, the AVIXA survey focuses on the impact linked to the revenues of the AV industry and includes feedback from companies operating in the live events market in particular, but also more data related to AV service providers and end users. The document also asks companies of the AV intelligence Panel for information on professional trends and the workforce as companies adapt to the emergency situation.
Again, the survey results were presented and commented on in a video by Sean Wargo, AVIXA’s Senior Market Intelligence Director. In just one week, the respondents’ assessment of the impact on company turnover changed rapidly. If, just 7 days ago, most of the respondents replied that ‘they did not know’, today there is a significant drop in revenues and a sharp slowdown in sales. Indeed, for live event companies it is ‘a big negative impact’ with earnings almost halved compared to the previous two weeks. Another Coronavirus problem is certainly linked to the workforce: several respondents have managed to adapt employee operations to the necessary social distancing measures but many companies – especially in the live sector – have announced staff reductions or layoffs.
From this latest survey, which also attempts to identify the responses of AV solution providers and end users around the world, it also appears that the impact of the pandemic is gradually levelling from country to country.
