PTZ cameras, encoders and decoders with Dante AV Ultra technology
A brand distributed in Italy by Vicomm, Bolin Technology offers innovative AV solutions based on Dante and Sony’s “4K Image Block” technology. Let’s discover today the line of PTZ cameras and encoders/decoders
Bolin Technology has been in business since 2002, designing and building PTZ cameras and video transmission solutions primarily for the Pro AV, Broadcast and Corporate markets. High image quality, low latency, streaming capabilities and remote control are the cornerstones of the Bolin philosophy, espoused in Italy by Vicomm, a distributor equally known for its constant search for quality in the solutions to be proposed to the market.
Dante AV with Bolin PTZ Cameras
Bolin D-Series cameras use the innovative Dante AV and Sony “4K Image Block” technologies, and support pro AV and broadcast video standards with 4K and Full HD definitions, 12G-SDI, HDMI, HDBaseT and USB 3.0/2.0 signals; in short, these are extremely versatile and qualitative products. The first Dante AV Ultra PTZ cameras, capable of interfacing video and audio in a standard 1 Gbps network providing uncompromising video quality with very low latency and perfect synchronization between audio and video signals. With definition ranging from Full HD to 4K@60Hz, and with particularly quiet and smooth Pan, Tilt and Zoom capabilities, Bolin’s D-Series operates in perfect symbiosis with existing Dante audio systems. The D412/D220 PTZ cameras are controlled via Dante Controller software, which enables independent routing of audio and video with sub-microsecond latency.
Two models are available: D220 PTZ offers resolution up to 1920x1080p@60/59.94 (Full HD) with 20x optical zoom, while D412 offers images up to 3860x2160p@60/59.94 (4K), with 12x optical zoom.
Streaming and remote control
Unmissable features are then streaming (based on Dante Studio RX software) and remote control (via RS232/422 as well as through Dante AV Serial-Over-IP and Visca Over IP via Bolin’s Dante AV transceiver).
Dante Studio software (Dante AV RX) practically brings Dante video functions to individual PCs, enabling users to realize streaming transmissions of the Dante AV video stream using vMIX, OBS, Teams, Zoom and other common streaming and sharing platforms. In addition to Dante AV-Ultra streaming, the D220 and D412 also support simultaneous RTSP streaming, with web browser viewing and control capability for remote accessibility, and support RTMP for live streaming.
RS232/422 serial control and Dante AV Serial-Over-IP and Visca Over IP remote control, via Bolin’s Dante AV transceiver, allow precise operation of camera Pan Tilt and Zoom movements, as well as presets and image parameters. Also available, of course, is IR control.
Encoder/decoder
A perfect complement to the Bolin PTZ camera-based system, the Dante AV Ultra Series D20 encoder/decoder is a single-channel networked AV over IP transceiver fully compatible with audio devices within a Dante ecosystem with integrated audio and PTZ parameter control via IP or IR pass-through. D20 delivers audio and video streaming without loss of quality or intensity, with extremely low latency and synchronization between video and audio signal, all over a standard gigabit network. As a decoder, it outputs baseband, HDMI or 12G SDI video, suitable for professional AV applications (YUV 4:4:4, ProAV optimized JPEG2000 video compression technology and HDCP 2.2 compliant).
D20 can itself be managed using Dante Controller software, giving the user the ability to independently route audio and video with sub-microsecond accuracy.
Again, two encoder/decoder models are available: the D20H has HDMI 2.0 output only, with built-in scaling that allows users to choose from a wide range of UHD and HD resolutions in order to meet the different requirements of sources, displays, codecs and other equipment. The D20S, on the other hand, has HDMI 2.0 and 12G-SDI outputs, with built-in SDI video processor to provide SDI signal for ProAV and broadcast applications.
Unicast/Multicast and security on the network
Thus by receiving the A/V signal from a Bolin Dante AV PTZ camera, and paired with the decoder, D20 via HDMI and/or 12G-SDI output, and using Dante Controller software, one is able to quickly and easily switch between multiple DanteAV endpoints, including cameras or encoders on the network, without the need for breakouts or matrix switches to display video in both Unicast and Multicast modes, on any number of screens. Adherence to the latest HDCP 2.2 specification (HDCP 2.3 for networking) for high-bandwidth digital content protection ensures total system security on the network and allows protected data streams to pass between authenticated devices. Finally, constant firmware updating is ensured via the IP interface of Bolin Dante AV software in order to keep the functionality and performance of the decoder up-to-date.
