I confess I couldn’t resist: even though my inbox is overflowing with forecasts and scenarios of a future with Artificial Intelligence, and we’ve already talked about it many times, two days ago the announcement of the launch of Apple’s AI was made during the usual annual WWDC convention
But wait, isn’t this a consumer topic? Why are we discussing it here? Apart from the undeniable trend of blending consumer and professional trends, many of us now use functions and applications meant for the general public in our work lives, often with devices used for both private and professional purposes.
At the beginning of the year, Apple had promised a substantial step forward in the field of AI, but it seems that this hasn’t materialized. The new AI aims to make interaction with Apple devices more intuitive and natural through integration with Siri, and it promises greater attention to user privacy through on-device processing, but the market expected something more. This is also because Apple’s AI is the result of an agreement with OpenAI: Gpt-4o, OpenAI’s most advanced AI model, will be available to Siri, the voice assistant Apple launched more than ten years ago and which now, thanks to AI, can perform slightly more complex operations and remember the context of conversations. Moreover, it will all arrive in Italy very gradually, presumably not before the autumn. At least on the Apple front, we will have to wait for the next episode.
