Adam Hall took part in Pro Light + Sound again this year, taking advantage of the occasion for a special event. The day before the fair he invited partners, customers and journalists – including us from Connessioni – to his Experience Centre in Neu-Anspach, not far from Frankfurt, to the IT’S TIME event: hundreds of people from all over the world, in the spirit of meeting again (after a long time) under the sign of unity and love for music.
It’s Time, and indeed the time has come to meet again, to take stock, to reflect on the market after two years of pandemic, to contribute to the resumption of activities – and those related to the world of events in particular, as per Adam Hall tradition – and to present the company’s news according to this vision.
The work started in the afternoon, with a moment dedicated entirely to journalists, including us from Connessioni. The project managers presented several annoucements that you can read below, both from the sound system side – first and foremost MAILA, the compact Line Array system by Adam Hall – that of lighting, with Cameo OTOS and the profiles of the P2 series.
After the institutional meetings, the evening was kicked off, the theme of which was the future. Alexander Pietschmann, CEO of Adam Hall, and Konrad Gulla, CEO of TrendOne, opened the discussion on the international events market. During the last two years the pandemic has literally de-constructed the market, triggering changes at breakneck speed, especially around the great protagonist: the virtual world, or metaverse. And if we have discovered endless libraries of content and, thanks to streaming, acquired the possibility to speak to the world, today we know that digital encounters will remain a habit, but the contents will have to become more and more personalised, in order to offer the public an experience as exciting as the in person one. The meeting ended with a reflection on the importance of events as an experience that unites and which, like art, fills the world with beauty.
The evening ended with the performance by the band Milky Chance, which has won numerous awards, including the German Sustainability Award. Obviously the band played live using the new LD MAILA system, in the theatre inside the Adam Hall headquarters, so that the audience could also hear it in a real live performance.
The new proposals of Adam Hall
A prominent product among Adam Hall, MAILA‘s novelties, “Modular All-Round Intelligent Line Array” marks a milestone in the history of the brand. It is in fact a scalable line array system, easy to use and quick to assemble, suitable for a wide range of sound reinforcement applications: from speech without subwoofer to the most demanding conferences, up to concerts in clubs and medium-small stages, with ground subwoofer variables. During the launch, we also met the people who worked on some of the features that make the product so special, Senior Product Manager Viktor Wiesner, Mechanical Engineer Jonas Mulfinger and Senior Acoustic Engineer Martin Jung, who highlighted the multiple faces of MAILA, which make it revolutionary and innovative.
Designed for the rental market, the system presents some interesting solutions that simplify the life of every technician: the mechanical point of view EasySplay®, patented by Adam Hall, which allows users to adjust, using just one hand, the inclination of each speaker from 0 ° to 8 °, even under load. With MAILA, the need for complex wiring is also eliminated: SmartLink + ® is a system of mounting rails that is used both to assemble and connect the various modules that you intend to use, simply by sliding them one over the other, and to transport information: it allows the wireless connection (power supply + signal), as well as automatic recognition of individual modules. With the LogoLink wireless antennas, invisible because they are integrated into the logo applied on the product, you get a connection with ranges of up to 30 meters, through which each MAILA system can also be configured quickly with the free app. The team gave us a demonstration on the spot to experience first-hand the simplicity with which it is possible to assemble the system.
On the lighting front, in addition to the new Cameo OTOS H5 hybrid moving head for outdoor use, Adam Hall has also thought about theatre and TV, launching the P2 series with profilers with LED source.
Daniel Wrase, Product Manager for the lighting sector, told us about the latest innovations from Cameo, a brand launched 11 years ago: the Zenit family has expanded with the advent of the W600 SMD (RGBW) LED wash and strobe. Equipped with 504 4-in-1 SMD LEDs, the wash light is suitable for both area and stage effects, including strobe and chaser, with all the beloved features of the series. With the P2 series, on the other hand, Cameo presents its first profilers with LED source for theatre, TV and events.
The star of the presentation, however, was OTOS H5, a robust and reliable moving head for outdoor use, capable of a light output of 19,000 lumens and hybrid beam, spot and wash functionality. The first field test was in April with the christening of the new cruise ship AIDA cosma in Hamburg. Featuring a zoom range of 2 ° to 42 °, CMY colour mixing and control options via an integrated W-DMX ™ transceiver, the OTOS H5 gives lighting designers the ability to work on almost any application – from large festivals to open concert arenas for specialised use in the television and film sector.
