On the occasion of International Women’s Day 2024, the professionals of the Italian AVIXA Women’s Council group met on DrimCity, a virtual and interactive city that made the meeting much more engaging than classic online meetings. Is this a viable future for the hybridisation of AV experiences?
It may not be the same as physically sitting around a table, but… it was good! On the ‘highlight’ occasion for the female world, also in the AV sector, 8 March, the AVIXA Women’s Council participants chose an unusual but interesting time to share, also for its technological and professional implications.
“We knew that due to the many work commitments of the women members of the group, located all over Italy, it would be complicated to meet in person,” says Valeria Rapa, Program Coordinator, Europe at AVIXA. “Once again, AV technology came to our aid: I asked Federica Cocchia and Giulia Vogliolo of DrimLab to help us organise the meeting in their virtual smart city, called DrimCity. A space that has all the credentials to offer functional and fun meetings, and where we would like to implement further experiences”.
How a smart social city works
‘A smart city goes beyond the use of digital technologies’. DrimCity, launched by the start-up DrimLab on Milan Digital Week in October 2023, was born with these premises. In other words, the virtual representation of a smart social city that is also innovative from a social as well as a technological point of view. Entering the virtual city, in fact, the user undertakes a real immersive journey in a simulated environment. In which they can navigate autonomously with their avatar, interacting with other participants and elements according to the principles of gamification.
A project that can contribute to the growth of a conscious, respectful and active citizenship on the territory, for the benefit of a common, civil and environmental good. Therefore, the inhabitants of DrimCity are organisations that believe in the social impact of their business (companies, associations, public bodies, etc.). And who want to get involved by experimenting with innovative ways of delivering services, developing a synergic relationship between physical and virtual reality. If the ambition is to populate the platform with all the actors of a smart city, the contribution of professionals working in different companies and system integration contexts can only represent an exciting future.
