A press trip organized by Harman Professional Solutions offered a select group of journalists, including us from Connessioni, the opportunity to visit Martin Lighting’s production site in Pécs, Hungary. This was a chance to gain an exclusive insight into the company’s operations and to build closer relationships with colleagues
The trip, held from April 23 to 25, began with an arrival in Budapest, followed by a bus transfer to Pécs. During the journey, we had the chance to chat with the other colleagues and get to know David Glaubke, Harman’s Director of Global Corporate Communication, who accompanied us throughout the trip.
In Pécs, the visit began with a comprehensive presentation on the history and production of Martin Lighting, conducted by Ben Payne, Sales Director Lighting, Henrik Kristensen, Product Manager Stage Lighting, and András Dobre, Senior Manager Production and Process Engineering. The presentation highlighted the high technology and meticulousness of the production and control processes — over 70 measurements and analyses — from design to final inspection, and the reasons for establishing the factory in Hungary. In 2015, Harman had already decided to move the Frederikshavn factory to Pécs, and in 2023, they inaugurated the facility we visited. This facility was created to expand Martin’s production capacity and to align with Harman’s environmental policies.
During the factory tour, participants observed every stage of the production of the recently launched Mac One and Mac Viper XIP fixtures. The attention to detail was evident, with rigorous quality controls and a rational organization of workstations. Additionally, the Pécs site stands out for its adoption of sustainable practices, such as the use of geothermal energy and solar panels, with the goal of becoming carbon neutral by 2040.
The day ended with the return to Budapest, during the trip the journalists reflected on the experience and discussed further with Glaubke, who said: “This trip was a significant logistical effort, and we are happy to be here: the Pécs factory is a flagship for us, representing major investments in innovation, productivity, but also green choices in line with corporate directives. It was also a pleasure to meet many of you, whom I often only see briefly at trade shows.”

Martin Professional, part of Harman Professional Solutions, is a Danish company specializing in event and architectural lighting. Founded in 1986, it was acquired by Harman in 2013, which revitalized the company by focusing on lighting (the M-Series controller range was sold to Elation) and developing new products, including the MAC Ultra, MAC Aura XIP, and new architectural solutions like the Exterior Linear Pro LED bars.
