Adeo Group opened its Control4 Authorised Education Centre in July 2022. Since then, Adeo has hosted the Control4 Automation Programmer course every month and recently launched its first English-speaking courses. Here, Matteo Fin, Product Manager at Adeo Group, explains why this training is so important for helping integrators to grow their business.
Adeo is extremely fortunate to call the beautiful Val d’Adige valley in Trentino their home. The mountains form the backdrop of the HQ, which houses our stunning showroom and Control4 Authorised Education Centre, providing an inspiring vista for their visitors. It is also a visual reminder that while the summit looks near, you must put the effort in to reach the top!
As an exclusive distributor of Control4 in Italy, ADEO works closely with integrators from across the country and understand the market here extremely well
Last year, Adeo attained the status of Control4 Authorised Education Centre (AEC). The role of an AEC is to provide integrators in markets indirectly served by Snap One through distribution with the same level of education available to those in direct markets like the UK. To be approved as a Control4 Authorised Education Centre, Adeo must provide a well-equipped classroom environment and deliver courses that support Control4 Partners to build their technical expertise and meet local service demands.
As a professional industry Adeo is judged on standards and expertise. The professional smart home market is buoyant and there is a big opportunity, but they must maintain integrity or clients will look for alternative options. The high-quality training offered at the Adeo AEC provides an industry benchmark as well as the knowledge and skills required to fulfil consistently high-quality integrations.
Adeo have worked with Control4 to tailor the Control4 Automation Programmer Course, our flagship training course, to the specific needs of the regions and markets we serve
For example, in Italy KNX is the most widely used open standard protocol so their course has more of an emphasis on KNX integration with Control4 than say, the US version would. In Europe wireless lighting is not as big a focus as it is in other markets, so instead we look deeper into low-voltage lighting.
In February, this year Adeo launched our first English-speaking courses due to demand from integrators in other markets who wanting to complete the course with them. Adeo is now attracting integrators from growing Control4/ KNX markets, as well as electricians and security installers diversifying into smart home.
The certification
Automation Programmer is the only AV and automation-centric certification that combines guided, practical learning with an expertly developed curriculum. Led by Matteo Manica certified instructor at Adeo, this specialised training focuses on the fundamentals of programming the Control4 ecosystem and gives integrators the tools and knowledge to create bespoke, intricate, and reliable projects for their customers. It starts with understanding simple AV automation processes and quickly develops to give them the knowledge for a complex whole home project build, covering all aspects of Control4 Home Automation.
The course
The course combines theory with hands-on practice, in six engaging, fast-paced modules and a final two-part exam. Before participants arrive for the course, they participate a remote introduction in which a small demo kit is agreed according to the participant needs. Once at the AEC, each participant has a dedicated work station, equipped with the latest home automation products, along with all the training materials required. In the training room, Adeo uses a 8m x 3m screen with 2 projectors, which is great for showing minute detail, fully immersing participants in the topic.
Completion of Automation Programmer greatly enhances the participant’s confidence to design and deliver a bespoke customer experience. Once the Control4 Automation Programmer certification has been obtained, a tutor is allocated by Control4 to provide follow-up support in the form of 15–30-minute online training sessions. Participants also get feedback survey with eight questions, to help us improve the course for the future.
