Raise your hand if you want to go back to Amsterdam! Our contributor Michele Fucci, Multimedia Designer and co-founder of the WhatWeAre studio visited ISE 2023 and, following our market notes published a couple of weeks ago, we bring you his notes on what he observed at the fair at the technology level.
This year Barcelona gave us a very interesting fair and also much, much sunshine! We breathed a different atmosphere in this fantastic city that, for the second year, (although we can consider it the first) hosts ISE. It was a well-organized event that, as per tradition, satisfied the curious and insiders in terms of the offer, innovation, insights, and, above all, opportunities. At last, we could perceive this big wave coming where soon will converge new sciences and many acronyms still a little mysterious such as UX, AI, AR, VR…(we already know IP right ?) and that anticipate in my opinion great future prospects.
In the magnum sea of the fair and the countless technologies present, we found appreciable the efforts of the small manufacturers who, making a virtue of necessity, understood the use of open source technologies, doing a lot of work in R&D. With pleasure we see that “there are alternatives” going their own way and, personally, I see in this a great opportunity.
Even the big manufacturers have been able to keep up, confirming their market positions and making their technologies more open and cross-cutting. Of course, not everything surprised us in a positive sense, but overall the change was understood.
There was really everything at the fair: LED technology, new communication protocols, integration with IoT and Domotics, simulation and content production, and many, many acronyms as always. We will have time to talk about it because, in the next issues of the magazine, we will review the main drivers of innovation observed at ISE and see together if, and how much they will impact our 2023.
