The goal: to create a unique one-touch solution that allows teachers to instantly configure their environment to meet every teaching need. The tools: Sony’s Edge Analytics Appliance and… the Kramer experience!
The world of school is also changing, and very rapidly. Today, the teaching staff has many responsibilities, and no teacher can afford to waste time with configuring projectors, screens, cameras, recording devices, audio and lighting equipment in the classroom. Indeed, all this equipment must easily be at the service of the teaching style of each teacher and his or her presentation needs.
For this reason Sony and Kramer have joined forces to create an intuitive solution, which allows teachers to configure all their devices with a single touch and to offer students immersive and personalized educational experiences. At the heart of this new educational solution is Sony’s well-known Edge REA-C1000 analytics device. Leveraging cutting-edge AI and AR (Augmented Reality) technologies, it is able to directly control PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) cameras, for example, in a lecture hall, to create refined and high-quality video content. without the need for specialized production personnel. Together with other room devices, REA C1000 can be instantly configured by the teacher via an intuitive touch panel, to adapt to a wide range of teaching and presentation scenarios.
In addition to the ease of configuration (which is operated with simplicity from the room controller, without any other need for connection), the system offers automatic extraction of the writing, recognizing the words and any sketches made by hand by the teacher, which are displayed on a separate screen. In this way, everything will be clear and easy to read, even if the teacher’s body obstructs the direct view of the blackboard by the students. The extracted handwriting can also be recorded or streamed to a remote connected audience, in the logic of hybrid lessons, which have been imposed since the early days of the pandemic. Another key feature of the system is the automatic tracking function of the PTZ cameras, ideal for teachers or presenters who like to move during lessons. With a simple touch of the controller, the PTZ cameras will be set to automatically follow the teacher as he moves around the classroom, ensuring clear and precise footage of the lesson or speech.
In short, Sony REA C1000, developed with the collaboration of Kramer AV, frees teachers from the need for lengthy system configuration procedures and creates more engaging lessons for the audience, regardless of whether it is entirely in presence or hybrid, in presence and remotely. The school of the future has already begun.
