Audio Effetti presents one of the most interesting products in the Pixelhue range, 4K View Pro. It is a powerful “true” 4K standalone video processor based on an FPGA hardware architecture and a high-performance scaler. It can be effectively used for rental purposes, stage display control, LED wall/Video wall management, and video conversion in various formats for TV production.
Pixelhue is a young company focused on video processing and transmission for the mid-end and high-end professional market. Today, this market demands products such as live consoles, matrices, switchers, splitters, extenders, etc. One of Pixelhue’s flagship products is a 1U rack-mounted video processor with only 1 frame latency, supporting 4K input and output at 60 Hz. It is called 4K View Pro and functions as a scaler, switcher, and signal converter, providing a virtually perfect image processing experience.
A closer look reveals that 4K View Pro features 2 12-SDI inputs with loops, 2 HDMI, DP 1.2, and 2 Dual DVI inputs, as well as HDMI, DP 1.2, 12-SDI, and Dual DVI outputs. In total, it offers 6 inputs and 5 outputs, allowing you to connect your devices up to a maximum resolution of 4096x2160p @ 60 fps on SDI with 4:4:4 10-bit video sampling. The source image can be scaled in any desired manner.
As we know, 4:4:4 represents “true” sampling without compression, offering the highest quality and a wide RGB color palette. It is the best option for various applications such as compositing, color correction, cross-platform editing, and video signal processing.
The 3rd generation superview scaler and MADi processing deliver performance made possible by the power of a fully programmable FPGA (Field Programmable Gate Array) hardware architecture chosen by Pixelhue for its 4K View Pro processor.
In addition to input selection and scaling functions, this device allows custom EDID (Extended Display Identification Data), Picture-in-Picture, layer freezing, blackout, test patterns, background image or logo insertion, output color adjustment, and more, including support for Strobe function.
Easy and immediate control is provided through the front panel, which offers intuitive management of the device. Users can navigate menus using the dedicated knob and view the unit’s status on the central TFT display. The device can also be controlled via client/server and web browser, including mobile devices. Web connection can be established either by connecting 4K View Pro to a PC via Ethernet cable or through a Wi-Fi router that connects all mobile devices. On the rear panel, in addition to various I/O connectors, there is a Genlock IN/LOOP for synchronizing multiple devices in cascade.
The following image shows a typical example of the processor’s connection. Note that for LED display control, the outputs of 4K View Pro are sent to the sending card/device.
In conclusion, 4K View Pro is a state-of-the-art video processor primarily dedicated to video conversion in different formats, scaling, and generating the highest quality output for LED display control up to a “cinema” 4K maximum resolution. Its FPGA-based hardware architecture and ultra-low latency make it a winning product compared to the competition.
